Glowing, relaxed and flawless face. Shiny skin and hair. These are what every bride wishes for her wedding day. But how can you achieve them? Read on and you’ll soon find out.
1. SAY NO TO RED WINE OR DARK-COLOURED FOOD LIKE BLUEBERRIES.
If you do not want to have a “stained” smile in your wedding photos, you should avoid food that can change the colour of your teeth. To make them look pearly you should book an appointment with your dentist. You don’t have the budget? Then good toothpaste can do wonders. Definitely start your whitening treatment one month before the wedding.
2. SAY NO TO TANNING.
Besides the harm it has on your skin, having dark tan will make you look unnatural in your wedding pictures, especially if you got tanned in a solarium or used a spray. There is nothing worse than wearing a white dress on an orangey-like skin colour. Plus there is no way you can cover it with makeup!
3. SAY NO TO WAXING THE DAY BEFORE THE WEDDING.
If you are planning to wax, start the process at least one to two weeks earlier. You do not want to be completely ruddy on your wedding day! Especially eyebrow and moustache waxing must be planned in advance because they may cause some irritation. And it goes without saying: it’s better to leave the waxing to the experts and not go about it on your own. There is a risk you’ll turn up with two different eyebrows.
4. WATER, LOTS OF WATER!
Start drinking as much water as you can at least one month before the wedding to keep your skin clean and glowing. In addition, stay away from alcohol because it dries out the skin.
5. DO NOT CHANGE THE BEAUTY PRODUCTS YOU USE
Yeah sure that body lotion was on offer, but are you sure it will not cause a rash or eczema? So avoid changing any of the beauty products you use six weeks before the wedding. You do not know how your skin will react in the ingredients of the new products.
6. A NEW HAIRCUT? NO!
It is not recommended you change your hairstyle or hair colour two days before the wedding. If you are going to dye your hair or treat the edges, then go ahead but do so two weeks earlier. So you have time to solve problems like “Oops … the colour turned out a tad bit redder than I wanted.”
7. STAY AWAY FROM HAIR CURLERS!
Avoid using hair curlers for at least a month before the wedding. This will help your hair breathe and regain their lost glow.
8. IF IT’S AN OPEN BACK DRESS
do not wear a bra in the morning. Unless you want the pink marks the bra leaves to show on your back!
9. PURSE WITH THE ESSENTIALS!
You will need to have a small purse with you on your wedding day where you will keep a couple of SOS items such as a deodorant, corrective makeup, wipes (for after you start dancing and sweat…), scissors, plasters (if your new pumps turned out to be harder than you expected), tissues and anything else you think you may need readily on the day. You have to be prepared for anything.
10. CRY IN STYLE!
Tears may flow in that day from your eyes with emotion. So it is important to know how to cry…correctly. Press on the tear duct with a tissue and let the tears run into it. In this way you will not touch your eyes with your hands, destroying the makeup and your beautiful face.
11. DO NOT TRANSFORM YOURSELF.
Try not to change what you are normally. So if you do not use any makeup in everyday life, then there is no need to overdo it on your wedding day, unless you don’t want your guests to recognise you.
12. DO NOT WASH YOUR HAIR!
Yeah that’s right! If your hairdo needs a strong hold, do not wash your hair for a couple of days especially if they are very thin. In this way they will stay in place and the photos will be perfect.
13. DO NOT TRY TO BE A MAKEUP ARTIST!
It is best to book a professional makeup artist. Besides from the fact the result will be much better, the makeup artist will even advise you on what colours, products etc to use in case you need to refresh your makeup. The professional will even teach you how not to overdo it with the blush: enough with brides that look as if they are blushing the whole day!
14. YES TO WATERPROOF MASCARA!
In case the tip with the tissue does not work…it is best you invest in a waterproof mascara so you don’t end up looking like a boxer who lost the game.
15. DO NOT BE IN A RUSH TO REMOVE YOUR VEIL!
If you decide to wear a wedding veil, wear it till the end because the veil is one of those items that transform a woman in a white dress into a bride.
16. AVOID BOLD NAIL POLISH
Your hands will be protagonists throughout the day, whether you are showing off your wedding ring or your guests are congratulating you. What you need is for your hands to look feminine and beautiful. Thus, choose pastel colours so as not to have nails that scream bad trend!
