LANDMARKS
After admiring the most photographed windmills, visit Paraportiani Church in Chora, a group of churches that was named after its position between the sea and the side door of an old castle. It is no coincidence that the pioneer architect Le Corbusier was charmed by the exemplary architecture of the church and wrote: “Now I know I have not built anything worthwhile.” The island is also home to an Archaeological Museum (at the port), Folklore Museum (Chora) and Nautical Museum (at Three Wells).
BEACHES
As for the beaches, you should definitely visit the cosmopolitan Psarou Beach, the stylish Kalo Livadi Beach, the quiet beach of Agia Anna and the small but beautiful Paranga. You should avoid beaches like Paradise and Super Paradise unless you are in the mood for a busy beach club.
CUISINE / FOOD
Definitely book a table at Sea Satin in Chora, nestled under the Mills, known for its seafood, delicious honey puffs and mastika shots. For traditional Mykonian food visit Nikolas Taverna at Agia Anna at Paraga. If you love Japanese cuisine, you will find one of the most famous restaurants, Matsuhisa (at the Belvedere Hotel in Chora).
